Samantha Marie Giffin

– Samantha Marie Giffin, died just after midnight Wednesday, April 22, 2015, in her mother's arms, surrounded by her brothers and sister-in-law.

Samantha was born Oct. 18, 1989, and left us Wednesday, April 22, 2015.

Sam was a strong-willed individual, who marched triumphantly to her own drumbeat. She was a true pioneer who paved the way for inclusion and never let her disability define her. She was always game to participate in any activity.

She never let pain, fear or others' opinions guide her. She had nothing but love to share with those around her.

Sam will forever be remembered by her radiant smile and infectious laugh.

The family would like to thank a few of the instrumental medical professionals in her life: Dr. Dean Ross, Paula Houston, Tamara Kittleson-Aldred, Michael Crews, Catie Kohler, Dr. Linda Matz, Dr. Mike Hutchins, Dr. Peter Tuberty, the pediatric nurses at Community Medical Center, and the nurses/caregivers from Northwest.

She is survived by her mother, Anna Marie Tschida; her older brother, Braxton, his wife Alex and their son Mason; her younger brother, Collin; her best friend, Grandma Joan; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a fund so that Sam's, van which is in need of repairs, can be fixed and given to another young woman who is without transportation. Donations can be sent to the family home at 2332 Cloverdale Drive, Missoula, MT 59803, in care of Anna Marie Tschida.

A vigil service will be held at Garden City Funeral Home at 7 p.m. Friday, April 24. A memorial service will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, with a reception to follow.
