Ryder James Lomont, 10, of Potomac Montana was called home by “Our Lord and Savior” on September 20, 2024.
Ryder was born on September 24, 2013, in Orofino, Idaho to mother RaeAnne Iverson and Father Lane Lomont. As an infant, Ryder had a rough start to life. He was born 13 weeks early, and weight 2lb 8oz. Ryder spent the next 188 days in Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane Washington. Ryder endured many trials and surgeries during his time in Spokane. Ryder came thru this process amazingly well, he was later dubbed “Ryder-Man” for his courage during these very trying times.
Ryder was introduced to Reba McEntire’s music catalog by his cousin upon his arrival at home. They would lie on the floor for hours with her singing each song, or just listening to. Later, Reba’s music would become one of Ryders best coping mechanisms while making it thru the many procedures and hospital stays he encountered. Many of his nurses and therapists would download Reba’s music to sooth Ryder while he was under their watch. Another coping mechanism was Mickey Mouse. Ryder’s bright smile would appear as soon as he heard Mickey’s first word. Ryder began to enjoy other programs as well, like Law & Order and he really enjoyed hearing Gordon Ramsey get after the chefs in his kitchens.
Soon there was another addition to the family, little brother Darrick. Darrick and Ryder began their close brotherhood early on. Darrick would crawl over to where Ryder would be lying, and they would jabber back and forth to one another, as long as mom was out of the room. As soon as she came back in, they would go silent and look at her as they began to giggle and laugh. Mom just knew they were conspiring some plan, and was never quite sure whether that plan was good or not. RaeAnne often thought Ryder communicated thru Darrick, as Darrick would tell her that Ryder wanted something, and more often than not, that was what would calm Ryder. I guess little brothers do know best.
Ryder will be forever remembered for an unwavering smile that could light up 10 universes. Ryder’s giggle and laugh were so infectious that it brought joy to anyone in earshot.
Ryder was preceded in death by a brother, Kyle Quinton, Grandfather Kent Lomont and Grandfather Teddy Iverson.
Ryder is survived and loved by his Mother RaeAnne Iverson, Stepfather William Nelson, Brother Darrick Arant, all of Potomac; Grandparents Shannon (Greg) Udy of Rupert, Idaho; Auntie Elise (Christian) Romero of Elko, Nevada; Cousins Jayda Udy, Alana Romero and Christian Romero, Father Lane Lomont; Grandparents Kathy (Dale) Poling all of Potomac Montana.
