MISSOULA - Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated from St. Philips Parish at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December. 20. Rite of committal service will to follow in Valley Cemetery. Reception will be held for family and friends at the VFW Hall in Maxville.
Ruth passed away peacefully Saturday, December. 13, 2008, in Missoula.
Ruth was born to Sylvester and Norma Knash on September. 20, 1937, in Boulder Junction, Wis. She was later married to her husband of 53 years, Lee R. Alt, on October. 15, 1955. They were blessed with nine children, five daughters and four sons.
She was a devoted wife and mother, sharing her life with Lee in the logging and sawmill business. They spent the past 32 years residing in the Hall-Maxville area.
Ruth loved the church, reading, music, dancing, camping and, most of all, spending time with her family. She loved to laugh and was known for always opening the door to anyone, whether it be stranger or friend in need of a warm meal and a place to stay.
Her father, Sylvestor Knash; three daughters, Cindy, Wendy and Laura; and grandson, Rilley Simpson, preceded Ruth in death.
She is survived by her husband, Lee Alt of Maxville; sons, Lee Alt Jr. of Maxville, Paul Alt of Maxville, John Alt of McGregor Lake, Mike Alt of Kalispell; daughters, Deborah of Gillette, Wyo., and Rebecca of Emmett, Idaho; mother, Norma Knash of Wausau, Wis.; two sisters, Dorothy Secora of Green Bay, Wis., and Sylvia Seiler of Wausau, Wis.; and two brothers, Roger Knash of Pasco, Wash., and Rodney Knash of Milwaukee. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
