Obituary for Rudolf G. Katzl

Rudolph Georg "Rudi" Katzl, 80, of Missoula, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at St. Patrick Hospital of natural causes.

He was born Jan. 30, 1934, in Dachau, Germany.

In his early 20s, he moved to Missoula, where two of his sisters lived. After a short time in Missoula, he moved to California and was soon drafted into the Army, where he was stationed at Fort Ord for two years. He was employed at Convair Aerospace as a machinist until his retirement and moved back to Missoula to be with his family.

Rudi enjoyed playing soccer and tennis. He earned the rating of master in chess, and he played and competed for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Georg and Zenta Katzl; and two sisters, Centa Penn and Frieda Karofski.

Survivors include sisters, Anna Gallagher of Missoula and Trudy (Roy) Hankel of Missoula; and a brother, Wilhelm Katzl of Burbank, Calif.
