Rosemary “Romy” Seyster-Zarit, 75 years old, passed away Thursday, September 5th, 2024 at Saint Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana.
Her daughters Brittany and Kelsey were by her side throughout the day and moment of her passing into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus.
Romy had suffered a cardiac arrest a week prior, that she never recovered from. It took place while having lunch with Brittany and her granddaughter Maddie, so she wasn’t alone, and we are so very thankful for that gift.
Romy was born on February 10th, 1949 in Champagne, IL to her parents Horace McNeil Seyster and Margaret ‘Peggy’ Patricia (Cawley) Seyster. She was the second born of three children.
While she was born in Illinois, she spent her first few years in Madison, Wisconsin and then the family relocated to Southern California, while she was still very young. She was a graduate of La Mirada High School.
Romy K. Seyster married Steven A. Zarit on April 25, 1981, at Chapman College Chapel in Orange, California.
Romy was a career flight attendant with Air California for many years before it was acquired by American Airlines, and she remained with the company for a total of 20 years. She was based out of Orange County (SNA) airport which was eventually and affectionately referred to as “John Wayne Airport”. She shared many fun stories of spending time with her ‘friend John’ and how he would specifically request her flights out of SNA.
While they both accomplished so much during their lifetimes, Romy and Steven’s greatest joy in life was sharing the unending and perfect love of Jesus with others. Together, they ministered to people all over the world, throughout their marriage. Their home base was primarily in Southern California and during the last 18 years, in the mountains of NorthWest, Montana.
Romy is survived by their two daughters Brittany (Serban) Maracine and Kelsey (Colby) Rozell and their six young children. Steven and Romy’s precious ‘grandchildren’ called Romy their sweet ‘Nana’. She is also survived by her older brother Barry who lives in Laguna Beach, CA and her younger sister Christine (Seyster) Downey who lives in San Marcos, CA.
From Romy’s daughters:
We never could’ve imagined that we would be saying goodbye to our mama this quickly after losing our dad; however, God ‘s timing is always perfect and while we are filled with grief for what feels like time & memories cut way too short, it’s something never to question. His perfect will is just that, perfect.
To know our mama was to love her. She loved fiercely, and was equally as tender. She filled every room she entered with the joy of the Lord, which quite literally was her strength!
Our mom ‘s greatest love was her Savior, Jesus. What mattered more to her than anything else in life, was sharing the love of Jesus and seeing others come to know Him!
Heaven opened wide to welcome one of the most powerful women of God and intercessory prayer warriors, ever to walk this earth.
We love you forever and always,
Britt and Kels
(A virtual, Celebration of her Life memorial video will be posted here and to social media soon.)
