Obituary for Rose Turner

Rose "Edna" Turner rejoined her heavenly father February 22, 2014. Mom was the youngest of five born to Adeline and Jacob Picha. She was born June 15, 1925 on the family farm in Eastman, WI. Mom and Dad were married on October 25, 1952. They resided in Eastman for five years, then moved to Alaska and lived there between 1957 and 1960. They moved back to Wisconsin and lived in Prarie du Chien for two years. In 1962 they moved to Missoula, MT where they spent the rest of their lives together, raising six children. Mom was a devoted wife and mother who spent countless hours helping them find lost shoes on Sunday mornings and untangling fishing lines. Mom had a deep faith and was a devoted parishioner of St. Anthony's where she was a Eucharistic minister for many years until her health began to fail. Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother, three sisters, husband Joseph D Turner, and infant son James. Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Joseph and Sheryl Turner of Woonsocket, SD; her five daughters, Sharon and Bernie Schillo of Garrison, MT; Janet and Tom Flanagan of Eagle River, AK; Diane and Charles Bickenheuser of Kennewick, WA; Esther and Randy Lavoie of Missoula, MT; Mary and Greg Wickes of Missoula, MT; her brother in-law Joseph Jamnik of Greenfield, WI; 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews many of which reside in Wisconsin or as Mom would say "back home". Us kids all knew we were Mom's favorite, even though she told us she loved us all the same. Mom was a very considerate and compassionate person with a witty sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew her. When Mom was asked how she wanted to be remembered she said, "I tried to live a good life and tried to get along with everyone." And, "What a darned good mother I am!" We would like to thank the staff at Hunter's Glen, Riverside and St. Pats who cared for Mom and treated her with kindness. There will be a viewing on Friday, February 28 between 4-7:00pm at Garden City Funeral Home followed by a rosary vigil beginning at 7:00pm. The funeral mass will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, March 1st at St. Anthony's with a reception at the parish center following burial at St. Mary's cemetery.
