– Rose Marie (Hoyt) Roy of Missoula passed away peacefully Jan. 5, 2015. She was born Oct. 9, 1937, in Cut Bank, the fifth of eight children of Bish and Lilly Hoyt. Rose graduated from Browning High School in 1956, where she was homecoming queen as a sophomore. She married Wilson Roy and they raised four children.
Some of the things she greatly enjoyed were holding babies, being mistaken for Liz Taylor, collecting Betty Boop, dressing up to go dancing, eating sweets, visiting friends and being around family. She sold Avon and later Estee Lauder at Missoula Mercantile. She moved from Billings to her final home of Missoula over 30 years ago.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Lilly and Bish Hoyt; sister, Rita Flamand; brother, Kay Hoyt; and daughter, Tanya Lynn Benson. She is survived by sons, Tim (Janet) Roy of Missoula, Tony (Karyn) Roy of Bigfork and Tracy (Tammie) Roy of Missoula; brothers, Jim (Faye) Hoyt, Rex (Carmelita) Hoyt, Delbert (Lee Ann) Hoyt and Alec (Myrna) Hoyt of Browning; sister, Roxie Blinco of Billings; and eight grandchildren, Travis, Nicole, Chelsea, Vanessa, Breanna, Mehana, Anuhea and Kaimana.
A celebration of her life was held in Browning at the Methodist Church and Willow Creek Cemetery on Saturday, Jan. 10.
