Ronald Dean Wollan passed away on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, in Missoula four days after suffering a stroke.
Ron was born on Dec. 18, 1936, in Plentywood.
Parents: Clarence O. Wollan and Mildred Hark Wollan.
Siblings: Rita Wollan, Shaneen Wollan Bergette (Dennis), Arlette Wollan McFadyean (David), Blaine Wollan (Kris), Clair Wollan.
Grandchildren: Brianna Yates, Bryce, Jaidin and Gage Wollan.
Great-grandchildren: Calliah Yates.
He was preceded in death by parents Clarence and Mildred, and sister Rita.
Ron lived in the Plentywood/Outlook area until 1946 when his family moved to Eureka, where he graduated from Lincoln County High School in 1955.
Ron married Joan Newton in 1956 in Eureka.
The two resided in Eureka until 1965. Ron was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1960. He was stationed at Presidio of San Francisco from 1960 to 1962. Ron and Joan moved to Billings, in 1965 where Ron worked for the Soil Conservation Service. While in Billings they were blessed with two sons: Dean in 1967 and Gene in 1968.
Ron transferred to the Forest Service and moved to Great Falls in 1970. He stayed with the Forest Service in Montana transferring to Kalispell in 1973 and returning to Great Falls in 1976. Ron retired in the early '90s and the family resided in Great Falls until moving to Seeley Lake, in 2001. While in Seeley Lake, Ron worked part-time for Pyramid Lumber.
Ron was a LCMS Lutheran from birth, believing Jesus Christ the risen Lord to be his Savior. At the time of his death he was a member of Messiah-LCMS in Missoula. Messiah will host his funeral on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 1 p.m. Graveside services will follow at the Seeley Lake cemetery at 3 p.m.
