Ronald Gary (Ron) Jeppesen, 62, of Missoula, passed away suddenly of natural causes on November 25th at St. Patrick Hospital.
Ron grew up in Missoula, attending school there with the exception of one year in Las Cruces, New Mexico where he graduated from high school. He attended the University of Montana, earning a degree in Physics. The following three years he earned his PhD in Physics at the University of Colorado Boulder. His postdoc fellowships were in Vancouver, British Colombia and at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. From there he worked at the Meson Physics Facility in Los Alamos, New Mexico and with a Silicon Valley company in Sunnyvale, California. The last thirty years, he was able to tele-commute, allowing him to live here in Montana enjoying the outdoors.
He is survived by his mother, Rosalie Jeppesen; sisters, Lori Cummings and Trish Flores (Phil); nephews, Nathan Cummings (Jenna), Jeremy Flores (Eva), Jordan Cummings and Randy Flores. He is also survived by a long list of close aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Randolph Jeppesen.
A small, private family gathering with be held in Spring/Summer of 2022. Memorials may be given to support two of Ron’s passions: The Missoula Food Bank and Community Center or Five Valleys Land Trust (Marshall Mountain).
