Ronald William Cathey

Missoula – Ronald William Sharbono Cathey, 49 of Missoula, passed away on Saturday, August 28th, 2021 at St. Patricks Hospital.

He was born at Community Hospital on May 17th, 1972 in Missoula, Montana at 3:19pm to parents Shirley Cathey (Newhoff) and Ronald Sharbono. He was later adopted by Jerry Cathey whom loved him very much and raised him as his own.

He married Gina Privett on July 23rd, 1995 and the two of them raised two kids, Tiffany and Trevor in Missoula, Montana.

Ron was a concrete worker for K & K Concrete where he worked with some of his best friends, Charles, Allen, his brother Kevin and his Son, Trevor. He worked on the coast of Oregon on a fishing boat and in Washington state.

Ron was an avid outdoorsman, he treasured his time in the mountains with his many dogs over the years and just recently with his best friend/protector, beautiful Bentley who will spend the rest of her life with his best friends Robert Forbes and his wife Dawna Forbes. His love for the ocean inspired many ideas of building a boat and sailing off into the sunset. His love of hunting, fishing and the outdoors set his path in life. He was a rough and tough man on the outside but would give the shirt of his back for his family and friends. He loved animals and had started a fund to help dogs that needed immediate cash assistance for anything.

He taught his children how to hunt, fish and be self-sufficient for anything the world throws at them. He enjoyed camping up 9 mile with all his friends and family, always being the one to bring the guns, ammo and explosives. He loved his music loud while he drank a beer and worked on his projects such as the boat and the mustang. He was incredibly smart and witty. He was a favorite uncle to all his nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was a wonderful Grandpa to his grand babies. He was one of the hardest working men we knew and that was passed down to his children. He was very patriotic and loved the men and women who served and protected our beloved country.

Ron is survived by his parents Ron Sharbono, Jerry Cathey and Shirley Cathey, his children, Tiffany, Trevor, Taylor, Colby, Levi, Casey, Cody, Brandon and Coty McDonald; His ex-wife, Gina; Grandkids, Maci, Connor and Emery; His brothers and sisters, Randy, Kevin, Karrie, Jennifer, Misty, Nicole and Jessica; His closest friends, Robert Forbes, Charles Olson, Jerry Gutknecht and Travis Bahm; Numerous Aunts and Uncles, several cousins, nieces/nephews and also great nieces, nephews and several other family members. And his best friend of all, Miss. Bentley, his Belgian Malinois.

As we say goodbye, Ron joins Callie Pengelly, Roger Sharbono Jr., Uncle Bill Newhoff, Grandma and Grandpa Sharbono and his favorite Grandpa Dale William Newhoff.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the Nine Mile Community Center.
