Roger Lee VanderZand, 76, of Missoula, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at St. Patrick Hospital of natural causes.
He was born on April 28, 1940, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to John and Marion VanderZand. He grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with his three brothers. He served as a pressman in the Army from 1958 to 1961.
On September 3, 1962, he married Mary Anne Rohrs in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He ran the print shop at Amway Corporation until moving his family to Missoula in 1974. He was the owner of Bitteroot Litho for many years. He later worked for the University of Montana Print Shop where he retired in 2005.
He was a proud “Target Ranger”. He was passionate about fly fishing, archery and golfing which he passed on to his children and grandchildren.
Roger was a loving husband, dad and grandpa, and partner in crime with 99 year old “grammie great”. He was a proud father of his girls and his grandkids were the apple of his eye.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Mary Anne, Missoula; two daughters and their families, Kelly (Tony) Skaja, Eugene, Oregon, and Joanne (John) Romasko, Helena, Montana; three brothers, Larry (Nancy), Ron (Kathy), and Jimmy (Pam); along with 4 grandkids, Michael & Annika Skaja, Jay & Matthew Romasko; and his 99 year old mother-in-law Jane Rohrs.
Visitation will be on Sunday, 3:30-5:00 at Garden City Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be on Monday at 11:00 at St. Anthony Parish with Father Gary Reller officiating. Burial will follow at the Veteran’s Cemetery. There will be a reception at the St. Anthony Parish Hall.
