Roberta Crawford (Bobbi)

On October 11, 2014, a sweet, wonderful, and feisty little Scottish angel did a final allemande left on her way home to rest. Roberta (Bobbi) Crawford was able to stay in her own home till the end due to Harold, her loving, devoted husband of sixty-nine years. He received great help and support from her amazing aide, Nicole, and from the compassionate and caring folks of Hospice of Missoula.
Bobbi was born in March of 1927 in Sheridan, Wyoming, to Robert (Bobby) and Agnes Rae Dick. She joined three older brothers, Rae, Bill & Don. Though her dad, Bobby, passed away while she was just a little girl, Bobbi found a loving step-father in Paul Hickox. She enjoyed the love of many aunts and uncles among her mother's thirteen siblings and Paul's sisters. She grew up surrounded by lots of close cousins many of whom she stayed in contact with throughout their lives.
Bobbi and Harold were married April 7, 1945, in Bremerton, WA, just ten days before he shipped out on a merchant marine ship to the Pacific theatre of World War II. After the war, they started their family with the birth of a son, Mick, and a daughter, Kathy. This little family lived together in many places including Seattle Washington, Thermopolis Wyoming, and Billings and Red Lodge Montana. With Mick and Kathy grown, they moved to Polson, Montana, and there expanded their family with the adoption of another son, Rick, and another daughter, Barb. Through Harold's job with Montana Power Company, this family then moved from Polson to Thompson Falls and finally just the two once again empty nesters moved on to Butte. During their time in Thompson Falls, Bobbi was a Girl Scout leader and both she and Harold became very active members of the Eastern Star and Masonic lodges. When Harold retired, they made their final home together in Missoula where they spent many happy hours volunteering at the Senior Center and being very involved with the square dance center at Lolo. The square dancers became a second family to them and they spent many joyful hours dancing throughout Montana. At various times in her life, Bobbi also enjoyed cooking, quilting, crafts, knitting, sewing and traveling both in their camper trailer and later on cruises.
Bobbi worked in the insurance industry and as a bookkeeper, but her favorite job was that of wife, mom and grandma and she was top notch at all three. She showered her family with love, support and respect throughout her life and they, in turn, would have moved mountains for her.
Bobbi is survived by her husband, Harold, her four children, Mick, Kathy Gregg (Bob), Rick, and Barb Gardner (Ray), ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many beloved friends.
