MISSOULA – Robert Earl Sampson, 82, of Missoula, passed away at home Saturday, March 30, 2013, after struggling with heart disorders and Parkinson's disease.
He was born July 7, 1930, in Saffordville, Kan., to Albert and Bertha Sampson. Robert was a lifelong Christian and an active member of First Christian Church in Missoula.
Robert moved to Missoula in 1952 and worked for White Pine Sash Co. for nearly 40 years.
He was and avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed bowling with his fellow league members as often as he could. His flower beds, garden and yard were among the prettiest in the area.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Bertha; and his brother, Leroy. He is survived by his wife, Edna; two sons and their wives, Rick and Marlene and David and Julie; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his sister, June Daniels.
Robert was the kind of man who did the right thing just because it was the right thing. He was that man who could be found shoveling snow in the driveways of neighbors who were widowed. He was loved and will be missed by many.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the Rev. Tom Steenberg of First Christian Church for his kind, compassionate care during Robert's illness.
No services are scheduled at this time. A memorial will be held for the family at one of Robert's favorite fishing spots at a future date when the entire family can be present.
