Robert “Bobby” Pyron, 72, of Missoula passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at St. Patrick Hospital. A memorial gathering will be held next spring. Online condolences may be left at gardencityfh.com.
Robert Lee Pyron, son of Yancy and Dorothy (Flannagan) Olmstead, was born December 21, 1948 in Portsmouth, Virginia. He attended schools in the Missoula area before enlisting into the Marines Corps in 1965. He completed his GED while serving in the Corps. Bobby met Maretta “Marcy” Jacobsen cruising the Higgins Drag. The couple was united in marriage on October 9, 1970.
Bobby spent most of his working career as a Boiler Operator at the Pulp Mill. He enjoyed leather working and making clocks. Bobby was an avid collector of watches and pens. He loved his dogs throughout his life, currently Mae Lee. Above all else, Bobby loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
To most people he was Bobby, but to his family he was Papa and boy did our Papa love to shop. When his kids were growing up they had the newest basketball shoes and gear, he spent many weekends at Universal Athletics talking to his friend Shannon and picking out the latest gear. Papa loved his watches and if you were kind to him, he often gifted you with a watch, sometimes two! If his kids or grandkids mentioned they needed something, they would often have it within the next couple of hours. His latest shopping adventures were at Ross, where many times he would come home with shopping bags full of sweatpants or shorts and usually handed them off to the grandkids or his son because he knew they would fit. We will miss you Papa, we wish we would have had more time.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Marcy Pyron; children, Tracy (Joel) Lee; Darrell (Tera) Pyron; grandchildren; Torianna Pyron; Emerald (Tanner) Newell; Ethan Pyron (Kiley); Joel Lee; Dylan Pyron (Mikeala); Mason Pyron (Grace); Carson Pyron (Jaylyn); great grandchildren, Presten Newell; Jack Newell; Malakhai Roman; Charleigh Newell; siblings, Pat Olmstead; Gus Olmstead; Mark Olmstead; Elaine Burris; Kristen Olmstead; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Pyron.
