Robert G. DeMarois

Robert G. DeMarois (Bob) passed away January 15, 2013 from natural causes.

He was born July 17, 1922 in Anaconda, Montana. After graduating High School, he served in the Army for four years and upon leaving the military, he moved to Missoula to attend the University of Montana, receiving a degree in Sociology. He met the love of his life, Billie L. Erwin, while attending the University and they were married July 28, 1948. They then moved to Sacramento for a short time, but Montana was always home and soon returned to Missoula.

Bob worked for Onley Motors for a short time before going to work for Turmell Co. In 1957, Bob became a partner with Turmell Co., thus the start of Turmell DeMarois Co. After the passing of Bob's partner, Fred Turmell, Bob became the sole owner of what is now DeMarois Buick GMC Truck. Bob was a past president of the Montana Automobile Dealers Association, and a life time board member of the Montana Auto Dealers Insurance Trust. His favorite time was spent at Flathead Lake. Some said he missed his calling as a logger as he loved to cut wood and give to his family and friends.

Bob and Billie raised six children of which five continue working in the dealership.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Minerva DeMarois, his brother Joseph (wife Izetta), nephew Ivan DeMarois and his daughter-in-law, Laurie Caras DeMarois. Survivors include his wife Billie, sons, Rob (wife Marie, children Hailey and Ben), Jack, Joe (wife Jane, children Jessica and Ben Hart, Betsy, Meri), Lew (wife Lori, children Brenna and Wil), daughters Susan (children Mchale and Katie) and Debbie (husband Kevin Parker, children Stevi and Maddi of Billings), several nieces and nephews and Griz, his boxer and all time companion.

Per his request, services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the care of Garden City Funeral Home.
