Robert Earl Aplin, father, grandfather, husband and gentle giant, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, in Missoula.
Bob was born Nov. 16, 1930, in Peoria, Illinois, to Robert and Carrie Aplin. He moved with his family to Lincoln and grew up there. He met Margaret Kirby and they were married June 22, 1953, in Seattle.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict and worked in the timber industry most of his life, primarily as an independent logger and faller. Bob was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother.
Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret; and children, Judith Stewart (Ron), Robert Roy Aplin (Cyndie), Kathryn McCleerey Hungerford (Thomas) and Rachel Barnhart (Ed). Bob loved his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Lion's Den Ministries, 1900 W. Broadway, in Missoula. Everyone is welcome.
Private placement with military honors will be held at a later date.
