Richard H. Zimmerman

Richard H. Zimmerman 96 , went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 25, 2016. Richard died of natural causes at his home in Missoula.
He was born on June 20, 1920 to Henry and Katharina Zimmerman, Richard grew up on the family farm North of New Leipzig, North Dakota.
Richard married Elsie Rauscher on October 17, 1943. Together they had four children. Richard and Elsie worked their farm together for 23 years before moving to Missoula in 1966. They became active members of their church community and Richard worked as a custodian for Hellgate High School for fifteen years. After retiring he enjoyed wood working, fishing and restoring bicycles. Elsie and Richard went on many adventures together, his favorites were a bus tour on the East Coast and a vacation in Hawaii.
Richard held Elsie in his arms as she passed away in December 2000 after a long battle with illness.
He remarried in 2002 to Pearl Weber. They enjoyed several years of companionship until her passing.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife Elsie, second wife Pearl, brother Ted Zimmerman (Hilda), Otto Zimmerman (Beata), Albert Zimmerman (Bertha); sisters Bertha, Helen Zimmerman and Louise Laub (Milton)
Survivors include his four children, Milo Zimmerman of Stevensville, MT, Elroy Zimmerman of Caldwell, ID, Jeannette Reeve (Stan) of Missoula, Marlin Zimmerman of Tumwater, WA; grandchildren Shawn (Amy), Scott (Rhiannon), Lynn (Joan), Tammy, Jeremy, and Adam as well as seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Partners Hospice and to granddaughter Rhiannon for her loving care.
Visitation will be Monday Aug. 29 from 3pm-7pm at Garden City Funeral Home, Funeral services will be held on Tuesday Aug. 30 at 1:00 P.M. also at Garden City Funeral home. Interment will follow at Missoula City Cemetery and a reception at the funeral home.
