Richard Smith

July 6, 1943 — December 5, 2024

Richard Dale Smith went to be with his heavenly father on December 5th. Richard “Dick” Smith was born on July 6, 1943, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, to Richard E. and Alice Smith. Dick later relocated to Montana where he met his first wife and had four children. Dick got remarried in 1981 to Daphne, he earned a bonus daughter, and they had two more children together.

Dick was owner and operator of Engine Rebuilders for many years. He was also very active in his church community, and he enjoyed many hobbies including auto racing, fishing, hunting, camping, woodworking, football, NASCAR and enjoying time with his family.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Virginia, and his two sons Tyler Glenn and Mark Anthony.

Dick is survived by his wife Daphne, his son Scott (Delena), his daughter Kandy (Martin), Katrina, Sharon Kay (Gus) and Nicole (Brian). His grandchildren Kyle, Shelby, Kassondra, Kristen, Baylee, Chloe, R.T., Raynna, Sophia, Jordan, Brittany, Whitney, Macy, Tanner, Zoey, Zella and his 19 great grandchildren.

If you are feeling sad, “Don’t now”. Dick is feeling “finer than frog’s hair” being with his heavenly father and now reunited with his missing finger that he lost in an unfortunate crankshaft grinder accident. Dick has no worries about the menu in Heaven because he “just had a bar of soap”.

Dick will be remembered for his never-ending humor, his unmatched kindness, and his love for the Lord and his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched.

A celebration of life will be held for Dick on March 28th, 2025, at the Sovereign Hope Church.
