Richard Carl Peschel (Dick)

born 9/25/1918 died 3/28/16 at St. Patrick Hospital of natural causes.
Richard was born in Felt, Idaho, but raised and schooled in the Bitterroot Valley at
Stevensville, MT.
Richard Peschel enlisted in the army, January 18, 1941. He arrived in Manila, the Philippines on
April 28, 1941. He was captured at the fall of Corregidor May 6, 1941 and spent 41 months
as a Japanese prisoner of war in Manila and Japan. He was liberated September 3, 1945.
He returned to the Missoula area and married Florence Winchel on January 18, 1946. He
finished his military service at Fort Bliss, Texas in October, 1946.
He attended automotive trade school and worked in Missoula as an automotive mechanic until
his retirement in 1982.
Interest/Hobbies Dick hunted, trapped and fished the Bitterroot area as a young man. He enjoyed
skiing, boating and camping in the 60s and 70s. As a grandfather he loved horseback riding and
spending time with his grandchildren in the Frenchtown area. He was a favorite uncle to many
nieces and nephews, a loyal friend, and well loved by all.

Grandchildren: Karla Amy and Nathan
Greatgrandchildren: Isla and Emily
Services Friday April 1, 2016 at 2:00 at Garden City Funeral Home, 1705 W. Broadway, Missoula, MT
with a reception to follow.
