Richard "Dick" Fleming, 87, of Ronan, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Hillside Health Care Center of natural causes.
Dick was born March 20, 1929, in Helmville on the Fleming homestead. He was the youngest of nine children. He joined the Army in 1950. He served in the Korean War, where he earned a purple heart. He was honorably discharged in 1952.
In 1960, Dick moved to Nevada working at Mercury, the base housing and operating area for the Nevada nuclear testing site. In 1965, Dick purchased property in Ronan and continued working in Nevada until 1972. At that time, he moved to his property in Ronan and began ranching. He continued to ranch and live in Ronan until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Irene Fleming; brothers, Pat, Jimmy, Leo, Thomas, Jack and Gerald Fleming; sisters, Ann Struna and Peggy Fleming and great-nephew Philip Haptonstall.
He is survived by eight nieces and nephews and 17 great-nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday, April 16, at 11 a.m. at Garden City Funeral Home followed by a reception. Burial will be at the Helmville Cemetery following the reception.
