(0) CommentsMISSOULA – Richard D. "RD" Fehr, 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 30, 2013.

Richard was born Sept. 13, 1934, to Richard E. and Rose Fehr in Hebron, N.D. The family moved to Missoula in 1950 and he graduated from Missoula County High School in 1952. Richard married Betty Kramer in November 1954 and they had two daughters, Lori (Les) Clark and Lanette (Kevin) Morgan, Colville, Wash.

In 1977, Richard married Marianne Schmautz Hammond and her two children, Lisa M. (Andy) Rhee and Kevin S. Hammond, Seattle, were added along with adopted kids Pam (Peter) Kovick and Christopher (Jennifer) Mienke, Missoula, who he loved and cared for. He has nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one sister, Marjorie (Ron) Rhoads, Spokane. Preceding him in death were his parents and brother Dale J. Fehr.

Richard was a building contractor in Missoula for more than 50 years. He loved his work and all the guys who he worked with and for. In his youth, Richard was a self-taught guitar player and also obtained his solo pilot's license. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

He had a dry sense of humor enjoyed by his kids and grandchildren. He may well be remembered for his standard answer as to how he was doing. He was always "fair." Richard touched many lives and left a positive impression on all who crossed paths with him. His sense of humor continued even in failing health.

Richard attended Bethel Community Church in Missoula for many years and will be missed greatly by his friends and family. Many thanks to all his doctors and nurses for his care.

A memorial service will be held June 15 at 2 p.m. at Bethel Community Church (formerly Bethel Baptist), 1601 S. Sixth St. W. Memorials may be given to Bethel Community Church. Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.
