MISSOULA - Ray Poindexter, 73, of Missoula, passed away Thursday, January. 15, 2009, at the Community Medical Center. He was born in Polk City, Iowa, on May 29, 1935, the son of Robert and Gladys Poindexter.
Ray served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1958. He married Evelyn (Steele) Duffin on January. 5, 1991. Ray worked as a paint and body man for 34 years, retiring in 1993. He loved old cars, motorcycles, wood carving, mall walking, outdoor activities, reading, music and dancing.
He had a great love for his friends and family, especially Evelyn. No one was a stranger. He had the determination to live life to the fullest and will be remembered as being dedicated, loyal, with a great sense of humor, positive outlook and someone who loved to tease.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Craig. His family includes his wife, Evelyn; a brother Grant (and wife Patty); sister Barbara (and husband Don); son Steve; daughters Robin and Lisa; step-sons Kevin, Cameron (and wife Traci); step-daughter Tamah (and husband Steve); 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
At Ray’s request, no services are planned. Memorials may be made to the charity or organization of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the care of Garden City Funeral Home.
