Obituary for Ray Hebert

Ray Hebert, 80, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017. Ray was born on April 23, 1936, to Joe and Evon (Cyr) Hebert.

At the age of four, Ray contracted polio, and his throat and right side were paralyzed. Ray’s recovery was slow, but with Mom’s prayers, patience and hard work, Ray became stronger. When Ray was about six, Mom began having him treated by a chiropractor in Kalispell, which improved his condition greatly. Years later, Ray was able to pass the military physical and join the army.

When he returned home, Ray worked different jobs, and found the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Ray married Dorothy Carlson on Oct. 12, 1963. The day they married, workers were laying carpet in the house the two of them had just finished building. Their honeymoon was a hunting trip that included Ray’s brother and dad; Ray’s dad offered to sleep on the floor. Dorothy worked for, and retired from, AT&T. Ray worked at the Bonner Mill for several years, before moving to Saint Louis to complete his Chiropractic education. Ray returned to Missoula in 1972 to begin his Chiropractic career, to help others as he was helped as a child. Ray maintained his practice for 30 years before retiring.

Ray and Dorothy loved to hunt, fish, dance, ski, boat, hike and garden. They were busy, happy people with many friends.
