Ray Lynn Dana, 61, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Missoula on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013.
Ray was born May 22, 1952, to Ken and Elsie Dana in Helena. He graduated from Helena High School in 1970. After graduation, he attended the University of Montana and was employed with the U.S. Forest Service. At the time of his death, he was employed at Roseburg, formerly Louisiana Pacific, in Missoula for 27 years.
Ray was a quiet, respectful man who could always fill a room with his smile and contagious laugh. In the summer of 1997, he married Candace Johnson. They later divorced but remained good friends until the time of his death. Ray enriched the lives of many throughout the Helena and Missoula areas, especially his friends Bruce and Rick and their families.
Ray is survived by his parents, Elsie Johnson and Ken Dana of Helena; brothers, Mead (Debbie) Dana of Gilbert, Ariz., Dennis (Lisa) Dana of Butte and Gary Dana of Helena; sister, Linda (Bob) Cronholm of Helena; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by stepfather, Dean Johnson; stepmother, Betty Dana; and nephew, Chris Dana.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Elks Lodge, 330 Lola St., in Helena with a reception immediately following.
