Ralph enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1961 and worked on the early warning system in Texas. Ralph met his wife Elaine at the Creamery Picnic in Stevensville in 1977 and they married in 1979. Ralph worked as a lumber grader, a forklift driver and as a ranch hand on the O/Z Ranch up Lolo Creek.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; son, Chad Gambino (Christina); grandsons, Jarod and Ethan; sisters, Melva Campbell, Lois (Larry) Ray and Ruby (Mel) Willey; and numerous cousins.
