Poul Frederick Bodholt journeyed to his Maker on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at home in the presence of his parents after fighting bile duct cancer.
Poul was born in 1972 and raised in the hills of New Hampshire, where he enjoyed a childhood roaming the forests and streams in the summer and skiing and ice hockey during the snowy winters. His later childhood and teen years saw family moves to Oklahoma, London and Houston. Soccer replaced skiing in Houston and Poul was a varsity soccer forward in high school.
He completed his education with a degree in international business from Loyola University in New Orleans. After graduation, Poul, along with a business partner, started a successful company manufacturing and distributing sport and diet supplements.
Poul decided he needed a lifestyle change and decided to sell his half of the business and move to Montana to help his parents and, once more, enjoy the outdoors and the winter wonders of the north country. When not outdoors, he enjoyed working out with his friends at the PEAK Health and Wellness Center.
Poul volunteered at the Poverello Center, helping run the food pantry, and at Christ the King Church. As he began to formulate plans for his next career, his cancer was detected.
With the help of the wonderful staff at St. Patrick Hospital and the Montana Cancer Center, he fought hard but was unable to overcome the disease. The hospice staff of Partners in Home Care provided compassion and comfort to Poul in the last days of his life.
His parents, Fred and Diane Bodholt of Missoula; and his brother, Erik Bodholt of College Station, Texas, survive him.
A Liturgy of the Word funeral service will be held at Christ the King Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, followed by a luncheon at the church. In lieu of flowers, Poul suggested donations to the Newman Center at Christ the King Church or the Poverello Center.
