Our beautiful and caring mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Peggy Jean (Matteucci) Harris passed away unexpectedly on Thursday July 27, 2023. She was 77 years old.
Peggy was born and raised in Ogden Utah. She was an exceptionally smart and beautiful child that adored her grandmother, respected her momma and daddy and dutifully helped care for her siblings. Peggy had many cousins that she grew up with, and each one of her nieces and nephews always wanted to come stay with their Aunt Peggy.
Peggy married Ed Radabaugh and they had three children, and then later divorced. Peggy married Al Jones, they had a son and then later divorced. For the next fifteen years she was a struggling single parent. Mom did all she could do to substitute as a dad to her two sons, always aware that they were in need of a permanent male role model. She did the best she could with the tools she had and she never gave up. It was challenging to raise four kids but mom stayed so strong. When her youngest was starting high school, Peggy met and married Jerry Harris, the man that loved her and worshiped the ground she walked on. Together with his lovely two daughters we all became one beautiful family. After 40 wonderful years we come together to mourn the loss of our dad first, and then now our mom. They are with each other in eternity.
Peggy was that friend that everyone considered family. She was bright and energetic and never lost her zest for life. She was curious and creative, and always trying something new. Besides spending time with her family and friends, Peggy had passion for music, traveling, crafting, sewing, baking and caring for her precious little dog MiMi (mini-me).
Peggy possessed a special ability to sense when someone needed to come to Christ. Her faith as a Christian never wavered no matter the obstacle or the environment; she remained dedicated to reading her Bible. At the time of her death, Peggy had embarked on a crusade to prevent girls in third world countries from being kidnapped into human trafficking by sewing numerous amounts of dresses swiftly so the church could ship them to little girls in need. Statistics show that a little girl in a new dress is less likely to be kidnapped if she is in clean clothes because it shows that she is cared for. Mom was all on board with this ministry and was living in her purpose during this season of her life.
Peggy was many things to many people in her lifetime and she will be truly missed.
Celebration of life honoring Peggy will be held in Missoula Montana on August 11, 2023 at a local church. If you would like additional information please reach out to the family.
