Obituary for Paul E. Willig

MISSOULAâ,**– Mr. Paul Willig, 95, was called home Saturday, July 27, 2013, in his sleep. He was preceded in death by his parents Fredric and Edith Willig; brothers Carl, Frank and Franz; sister Dalene (Simmelink); nephew Robert Willig; and great-great-nephew Larry A. Pyette.

Paul will be deeply missed by his nephews and nieces, Sandra Getschman, Carl (Jennifer) Willig, Glen (Ruth) Willig, Richard Willig, Roger (Jane) Willig, William Simmelink, Dalene (Trevor) Johnson, Kathryn (Peter) Bardolph, Linda (David) Brooks, Rhiney, Dennis, Patti and Linda (Jim) Basler; great-great-nephew Rob (Sandie) Willig; and many other great- and great-great-nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his dear friends, Frank Cole, Pearl Martin, Laura Pahl, Elfie Rose and Dave Turk.

Paul was born on a homestead in Judith Gap on April 16, 1918, then later moved to Missoula where he lived his entire life. Paul took care of his mother until she passed. He served in five campaigns in the Army in Europe during World War II and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the Bronze Star. Paul served his community as a police officer, city of Missoula Merchant Police and as a substitute judge.

Paul enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and watching the Missoula Grizzly games. He doted on his nieces and nephews, and there were instances of nose-pinching and telling the kids they were full of prunes.

In keeping with Paul's wishes, there will be no funeral service; he will be inurned at the Veterans Cemetery
