Obituary for Paul E. Gibson

EELEY LAKE – Paul E. Gibson, 82, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at his residence in Seeley Lake. He was born on Jan. 10, 1931, at Cut Bank, the son of William Robert and Laura Evelyn (McCoubery) Gibson.

He began his education in Cut Bank and completed the eighth grade at Coram. He worked for many years as a farmhand and ranch hand until enlisting in the U.S. Army in February 1952 and served until his discharge in January 1960. He was stationed in Germany.

Following his discharge, he worked at the lumber mill in Eureka for about five years. He later began work as a logger and worked for many years at Pyramid Lumber Mill in Seeley Lake until his retirement in 1972. He married Verna Coan in June 1954. They were later divorced. On April 1, 2003, he married Beulah Hess.

He enjoyed hunting and following his retirement, Paul enjoyed tinkering in his shop working with metal and wood. He was a wonderful practical joker and also enjoyed a good meal.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Kathy Fujimoto; his brother, Robert Gibson and his granddaughter, Amber Gibson.

He is survived by his three daughters, Paula Gibson of Missoula and Mary Gibson and Mona Hansen both of Seeley Lake; five grandchildren and three great-granddaughters; four sisters, Edie Walters and Edna Kelley, both of Seeley Lake, and Ruby Stevens and Rae Gibson both of Ronan.

Memorial services for Paul will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Seeley Lake Community Hall. Burial was in the Tobacco Valley Cemetery in Eureka.
