Patricia Wagner, 80, of Missoula, passed away from natural causes on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013. As she hoped, she passed peacefully in her sleep at home.
Patricia was born on Jan. 11, 1933, in Glasgow, Scotland, to parents Harry and Mary Ann Hood. Growing up in Scotland during World World II, Patricia had plenty of amazing stories about her family's life during this time period. Later, as a young adult, Patricia and her sister Irene spent several years working as professional ice skaters touring the U.K. and Europe living life to its fullest.
After marrying, Patricia moved to Montana in 1954, living in Missoula, Havre and, in one of life's little jokes, this transplant from Glasgow, Scotland, lived in Glasgow, Mont., for several years. She eventually settled permanently in Missoula in 1972, supporting her family as a sales clerk for both The Mercantile and Hennessy's.
As a single mother of four, raising her family so far away from her native Scotland was difficult. However, Patricia's dedication to providing for her children showed the depth of her love for them. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren, who she sacrificed much for to ensure their happiness. In return, they were equally devoted and centered their lives around her. She will be deeply missed.
Patricia was preceded in death by her brother, Peter Hood of Scotland. She is survived by her daughters, Dominique Robinson and Mary Ann Robinson, both of Missoula; son, Robert Robinson of Missoula; son, John Wagner and his wife Paula of Sammamish, Wash.; and seven grandchildren, Eric Ochoa, Rachel Ochoa, Trevor Crawford, Reese Robinson, Sean Robinson, Tavin Robinson and Alexandra Wagner. Her surviving siblings are brothers George, Jack and Harry Hood of Scotland; and her beloved sister Irene Hood of Columbia, S.C.
A celebration of her life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at the Stensrud Events Hall, 314 N. First St. W., Missoula.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Shriners Hospital. Random shout-outs in support of the Glasgow Celtic FC would make her smile.
