Patricia Vannoy

November 7, 1931 — February 15, 2025

Missoula

Patricia (Nelson) Vannoy, 93, went to be with her Lord Jesus on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Patricia was born on November 7, 1931 in her Grandma Simmert’s house on 243 N. 2nd in Missoula, MT. This is the same house where Paul Greenough was born.

Patricia would say, “Just call me Pat.” She would go on to live her entire life in Greenough where the Greenough Family had the Greenough Ranch. Pat’s grandparents homesteaded in Greenough and Potomac. Her Grandma Simmert’s family homesteaded in Ovando. This is why Pat had such a strong connection to the Blackfoot Valley.

Pat attended Clearwater School, Sunset School and Missoula County High School. Pat worked at the Circle W Guest Ranch in Ovando in her early teenage years.

After World War II, Pat met up with Rodney and was married in 1948. They bought a homesteader’s property in Greenough and built Vannoy Ranch. Pat spent nearly 77 years of her life on Vannoy Ranch. Pat worked hard alongside Rodney driving tractor, milking cows, raising cattle, riding horses, cooking for thrashing crews and raising a family.

Pat loved music, singing hymns, old songs and had taught herself how to play the piano. The morning she went to glory, she was still singing songs of praise to her Lord. She sang a song a few days before to her daughter Sue over the phone. Pat enjoyed raising flowers, cooking for family and friends and traveling. Pat was able to travel across the United States, Canada, Israel, Egypt, Italy, France, England, and Monaco.

In 2024, Pat was honored at the Blackfoot Telephone Annual Meeting as being the longest serving member. On February 12th, she attended the Missoula Chamber Agra Banquet and she had a great time.

Pat loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her love for God was utmost in her life, followed by her family, husband Rodney, children, Sue (Neil), Tom (Carol) and Gail. Grandchildren, Diane (Arvid), Heidi (Scott), Daniel (Tiffany), Becky (Bradley), Samuel (Jill), Aaron (Nikki), and Matthew. Great-grandchildren Brittney, Madelyn (Tommy), Bridget, Ella, Cameron, Addison, Audrey, William, Savannah, Remi and Colter and great-great-grandson Jordan, many nieces, nephews and cousins. They all brought her so much joy. Highlights of every year was looking forward to her out of state family coming home and spending time with them.

Pat was proceeded in death by her parents, sister Donna, brother Bill, husband Rodney, and son Tom.

Burial at Missoula City Cemetery, followed by a reception at Garden City Funeral Home Community Room. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given to the Greenough Potomac Volunteer Fire Department.
