Former Lt. Nhia Houa Vang, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away in Missoula on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013. He served in the United States' secret guerrilla war in Laos under the command of former Gen. Vang Pao. Nhia Houa Vang came to the U.S. with his family as a refugee in February 1993, settling in Missoula.
Nhia Houa Vang is a hard-working man who gardened with his wife and sold fresh vegetables at the Missoula Farmers Market for many years. He has five children, Her, Chao, Blong, Ka and Kong, all of Missoula. Nhia Houa Vang has eight grandchildren attending college, one graduate, eight in high school and seven in middle school. The best memories of Nhia Houa Vang are drinking coffee and enjoying warm bread with his grandchildren. He is loved by his wife, children and grandchildren.
The ceremony is planned for Friday, Dec. 6, through Sunday, Dec. 8, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
