Nancy Kathlene Lawrence (Maurer)

March 30, 1932 — April 23, 2022

Nancy K Lawrence arrived home with Jesus on Saturday, April 23, 2022. Nancy died peacefully at home at age 90.

Nancy was born on March 30, 1932 in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, where she lived until she married Charles Lawrence on August 27, 1955.

As missionaries with Bible Centered Ministries (formerly Bible Club Movement), Charles and Nancy came to western Montana in 1956, to share the love of Jesus with children of all ages, through Bible Clubs, Vacation Bible Schools, summer camps and Sunday School. Charles and Nancy continually shared Jesus with others, creating a legacy of many lives lived for Jesus.

A joyful 90th birthday celebration was recently held at Clinton Community Church, where Nancy is a member and co-founder. People came from miles around to share the day with her. Nancy commented at the end of the day, “This is the best day ever!” She enjoyed conversations with all who attended and had much pleasure reading the birthday cards during the days following the party.

Nancy stayed active with her missionary work, hobbies and social life well into her 88th year. Preparing and teaching Bible lessons to children through Sunday School and Bible Clubs, knitting mittens for the homeless population, attending weekly Ladies’ Bible Study, monthly Bunco game night, and rarely missing a Missoula City Summer Band concert for the last 60 years. As well as attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, musical concerts, birthday parties, graduations and weddings.

Nancy’s husband of 47 years, Charles, preceded her in death. She is survived by daughters Ruth Kleinjan (Rick), Jean Bowler (Curt); sons Ed Lawrence (Leslie), Doug Lawrence (Kim) and sister Lois Keirn (Dick). Along with eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Visitation is 12:00 – 2:00, Tuesday afternoon, April 26, 2022 at Garden City Funeral Home. The graveside service will immediately follow at Missoula City Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be announced at a later date.

The family suggests memorials be sent to Big Sky Bible Camp, 501 McCaffery Road, Bigfork MT 59911; or to Clinton Community Church, PO Box 158, Clinton MT 59825.
