– Monna Mae Solvie, 83, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014, at her home in Missoula.
She was born Oct. 6, 1930, in Lewiston, Idaho, to Carl and Ella Clausen. She spent her childhood and most of her adult life in Missoula.
Our beautiful mother faced enough hardships in life for a hundred people. Having been paralyzed in an automobile accident in 1967, she was at the time given six months to live. Nearing 50 years later, she was still hanging on until she could battle no more.
Throughout all those years, she never complained of her pain, cursed her predicament, or felt sorry for herself. Rather, she was always a beam of shining light, blessing the fact that she was still alive, loving her family and God unconditionally, and maintaining a positive demeanor. She had a sharp wit, amazing charm, and far more care and concern for others than for herself.
Mom, you were one of a kind and a fighter until the end. You will be forever loved and never forgotten. We miss you deeply, but you have finally found the freedom of which you so very much deserved.
Monna's family would like to express its gratitude to Debbie Maplethorpe for her stellar and loving care of our mother for so many years.
Monna was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her children, Carmen, Susan, Carl and Douglas; her two sisters, Donna Holt and Carla Clausen; and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
No funeral or memorial service is planned
