– On Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, Mitch Hines of Huson, passed away at his cabin in Haugan, near Lookout Pass ski area.
He was born on May 13, 1965 at Hill AFB, Utah to Mickey and Gerry Hines. After being an "Air Force Brat" for ten years, he was glad to be settled in Helena, in 5th grade. He graduated from Capital High School, Helena in 1983. He skied on the high school ski team, but it was when he tried snowboarding that he discovered his "Love of Life". It fit right in with all his other "riding", such as water skis, bicycles, skateboards, motorcycles, dirt bikes and ATV's.
He attended U of M, then worked at Champion Lumber in Missoula and Smurfit Stone paper mill in Frenchtown.
In Huson, he built his house up a mountain where he and his faithful companion dog, Ted, lived and discovered all to know about the mountain, the area and wildlife that lived at his back door.
Mitch lived his life the way he wanted and passed away in his favorite place.
His motto was: NVRSMR (never summer).
He is survived by his mother, Gerry Hines, many aunts and uncles, cousins and extended family including friends from many years and snow board friends from the mountain.
A very special Thank You to Mitch's friend, Joe, who has helped out in so many ways.
No services are planned. Condolences can be left for the family at gardencityfh.com.
