Michael Andrew Zeher, Sr., of Missoula, Montana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at home surrounded by his wife, two sons, and daughter from metastatic prostate cancer.
He was born November 10, 1947 in Norfolk, Virginia to Albert A. Zeher and Vivian Bryant (Zeher). He attended Norfolk Catholic High School where he excelled not only scholastically, but also as the N.C.H.S baseball team's star pitcher. In Michael's senior year he achieved his dream of pitching a no-hitter. Michael chose Old Dominion University, with a focus on psychology, as his next educational stomping ground before starting his illustrious career in sales at Johnson & Johnson.
After serving faithfully for twenty years at Johnson & Johnson, where he eventually was promoted to a Vice President position, Michael became President and CEO of Lander Company, International and was able to satisfy a lifelong dream of travelling the world. Michael eventually moved on from Lander Co. to serve as CEO at Pharmaceutical Formulations, Inc., (New Jersey); Nutritional Labs (Missoula, MT); and Nutrition 21 (New York). Michael was honored to serve as Board Director for Matrix, Inc and advisory boards for several national associations. But Michael's crowning achievement was the many wonderful people and amazing business relationships he formed during his career; he will forever be indebted to the kindness, friendship and counsel of those relationships through the years.
Of all the titles Michael achieved, he loved the title of grandfather most of all. His seven grandchildren lovingly referred to him as Pop-Pop and often cited that he was the reigning "King of fun". He loved golf, gardening, and spending time with his family. He loved being a Christian and his faith in Jesus Christ as his personal savior was a daily pleasure and a source of comfort through the devastation of his cancer. He thought of both Missoula Alliance Church and Calvary Chapel (West Chester, NY) as his church homes.
Survivors include his wife, Linda, Missoula, MT; sons, Mike Jr. (wife Pam), of Bentonville, AR, Matthew (wife Tiko) of Chesapeake, VA, Torey of Missoula, MT; daughter, Laura, Missoula, MT; grandchildren, Alex, Taylor, Allison, Mickey (Michael III), Melody, Samuel and Jordan; Sister Patricia Walsh, of Chesapeake, VA; brother David (wife Linda), of Virginia Beach, VA.
Visitation will be held at Garden City Funeral Home on Thursday, January 23, 2014, from 5:00- 6:30. The Funeral service will be conducted at Garden City Funeral Home on Friday, January 24, 2014, at 5:00 pm, with Pastor Jeff Valentine of Missoula Alliance Church and Pastor Charles Restivo of Calvary Chapel, West Chester, New York officiating.
