Michael Lowe passed away peacefully at his home in Missoula on April 28th at the age of 73.
He fought lung cancer and COPD for many months but finally ran out of energy.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Linda Lowe, his parents, Albert and Jessie Lowe, and his sister, Patricia Kennedy.
Remaining relatives include his two sons Dodd and Brian Lowe, his grandsons, Connor, Gabriel and Seth, his younger sister Kimberly Brandon, along with many nieces and nephews.
Michael was born June 10, 1942 in Sidney Montana to Albert and Jessie Lowe. He was the second of three children. Patricia was his oldest sister and Kimberly his youngest. Raised on a farm outside of Sidney Montana, he talked fondly of farming and growing up there. In school, he enjoyed playing football and playing clarinet in the band.
After high school, he went to the College of Great Falls and married his high school sweetheart Linda. He began his teaching career in Plains and moved to Darby to become the high school principal. Two years later he became one of the youngest superintendents ever in the state by accepting the position at Westby Schools at 28 years old. Throughout his 25 year administration career he was at Westby, Victor, Charlo, Huntley Project and Saco.
After his career as a school administrator he moved to Missoula and started a small company called Big Sky Supplies, which was a combination custodial supply company and commercial hardwood floor company specializing in serving the needs of the school systems in Montana. He sold the company in 2012 but continued working with the new owners right up until his passing. He was a man who enjoyed being active and productive.
He was an avid golfer up until health issues limited his ability to be on the course and spent many years golfing with his wife Linda and his brother & sister-in-law Donald and Lois Connolly. His other passion was his grandsons. He loved having Connor, Seth and Gabriel around and was especially comforted by them after his wife passed.
The family and friends of Michael will truly miss his love, his kindness and his interest in all our lives. He felt that God had truly blessed him with his wife, family and friends. We will all miss him.
Michael chose to be cremated. A memorial service has not been set at this time.
