Michael Anthony Kane, 44, of Drummond, MT, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 21, 2018. Mike was born June 29, 1973 in Missoula MT, to Kenny and Kathe Kane.
He was raised in Drummond, MT and graduated high school in 1991. Mike spent the next 24 years as a locomotive engineer for Montana Rail Link. Mike’s love for his job allowed him to experience the grandeur and beauty of the pacific northwest landscape. When Mike wasn’t working, he served as a member of the Valley Fire Department. He enjoyed catering and cooking with his father and brother, and remained a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan throughout his life.
Mike married Amy (Brunner) in 1996 and welcomed two beautiful children into this world. In the following years he loved attending their activities and coaching little league. Mike shared his love for the outdoors with his family and friends. He looked forward to hunting season each year, mostly for the camaraderie of lifelong friends. Equally as important to Mike, was the annual Holter Lake fishing weekend with his family and friends. When you were a friend of Mike’s, you were more than a friend, you were family. He was known for his giant hugs and had a heart of gold.
Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry and Opal Kane, grandfather Tony Gress and brother Ryan “Cubby” Kane. He is survived by his son Tyler Kane, his daughter Katelynn Kane of Missoula, his parents Kenny and Kathe Kane, Drummond MT, grandmother Dolores Gress of Missoula, his “sis” Sarah Pope, nephews Chase Kane, Carson Kane and Garet Pope and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
