– On Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, Chuck Mattix passed away peacefully in St. Patrick Hospital.
Born Charles H. Mattix on Jan. 17, 1936, in Butte to Raymond and Winifred Mattix.
He attended Madison, St. Joseph's and Boys Central High School.
He met the love of his life, Dorothy, while working at the Cottage Market. They celebrated 48 years together this past Sept. 2. They made their home in Butte and moved to Salem, Oregon, where he worked for McCormick Schilling spice company. They were transferred to Missoula in 1970. After his career with McCormick Schilling ended, he went to work for Summit Beverage. During his selling career, he met and made many close and personal friends.
Chuck's favorite pastimes were playing golf and cheering on his Grizzlies, New York Yankees and the Green Bay Packers to victory. Traveling with Dorothy and spending time with his grandchildren gave him great pleasure and put a smile on his face.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ray, Phil, Bob and Melvin; and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; children, Mark (Sharon), Vicky and Shawn; brother, Karl (Betty); brother-in-law, Greg (Jan); grandchildren, Shea, Siera, Jason and Marissa; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Per Chuck's request, no services will be held and a cremation has taken place. A private interment will take place in Butte in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to a charity or organization of their choice.
