Mary Elizabeth (Cox) Schwarz
Mary E. Schwarz passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 27, 2021. She was born October 23, 1934 to Charlotte Deane and Elmer Cox at her grandmother's home on Lulu Street, Trenton, Missouri. She moved to Bozeman with her family in 1935.
Her mother died when she was 3 years old and she was raised by her paternal aunt and uncle Ada & Ray Stewart and paternal grandmother, Mary Ann Cox. Mary received her education in the Bozeman public schools and at Kinman Business University in Spokane, Washington.
Mary married her high school sweetheart Harley Schwarz on May 16, 1954 in Bozeman. They moved around frequently during the early years settling in Missoula in 1963. They were blessed with four children, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Mary was an executive assistant at numerous businesses before she joined the University of Montana staff, retiring in 1993. Mary was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for 50 years and Trinity Baptist Church. Her past times were reading, crossword puzzles, playing bridge, skiing (which Mary never mastered) and camping in the summer.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter CariLyn, grandson Kaleb and her dear husband of 60 years Harley.
She is survived by her three children: Jeffrey Schwarz of Albuquerque, NM; Kate Brasco (Kathy Schwarz) of Hamilton, MT; and Sue Schwarz of Florence, MT; two grandchildren Kate Ericson and Conner Ericson; great grandchildren Caleb, Gracie, Amelia and Riley.
She was also blessed with many loyal and dear friends.
Mary has been cremated and will be interned at Missoula City Cemetery next to Harley.
