Mary Jo Diddel, 85, of Missoula, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2022, in the presence of family after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's.
Mary Jo was born to Clarice and Ernest Anderson of Miles City. She lived in numerous places during her childhood: Anaconda, Billings, and Sheridan, WY. She graduated with a nursing degree from The University of Denver in 1957. She had the privilege to work at Presbyterian Medical Center, Sheridan Memorial Hospital, Mount Sinai (NYC), and Denver General Hospital. Later, she worked for Westmont Home Care, Concentra Managed Care, and Partners in Home Care before retiring. She volunteered under the Foster Grandparent Program at Hellgate Elementary.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents Clarice and Ernest Anderson and her ex-husband John Diddel. She is survived by her sons, Randy (Courtney) and Tom; grandson Jared; brother Richard Anderson (Kathy Ann Frantzreb); nieces Kathy Anderson-Smith (Jon), Carrie Anderson, and Kelley Provost (Scot); grandniece Buck Madison; grandnephews Miles and Max Provost; and very special friend Diane Fallness. Mary Jo was also a friend of Bill W for over 34 years.
Memorial and potluck reception will be held at 1 pm on May 21, at the Garden City Funeral Home. In leiu of flowers, please make a donation in honor of Mary Jo's to the Humane Society of Western Montana.
