Mary Ann (Scharosch) Gray, (74) of Missoula passed away September 9, 2014.
She was born in Missoula in 1940, to her beloved parents Frank and Hertha Scharosch.
Mary Ann was a passionate person. She loved her family, watching her children and grandchildren play sports, perform in a school plays, band concerts, etc. She was a convicted bowler and was known by many in the bowling community. She had busy hands. They always had something in them; a crochet hook, knitting or cross stitch needles, a good book, a recipe card/book, a cooking spoon or even and old school Gameboy. Mary Ann was quick witted and a joy to be around. Seemingly always to have a smile on her face and often times bringing one to those around her.
She met Roy, her husband of 54 years at a bowling alley. After they married they owned and operated the bowling alley in Superior before moving to Great Falls, where Roy managed the local bowling alley. Ultimately they settled in Missoula to raise their family. Mary Ann loved watching her grandchildren (Mellissa, Morgan and Mitch) play baseball and softball. She and Roy followed them across the country to watch them compete. She loved camping with her grandchildren (Makayla, Austin, Josh, Ashley and Jeremy), watching them fish and splash in nearby creeks. Mary Ann loved a good hot dog (cooked over a campfire or from a concession stand).
Mary Ann looked forward to the fair every year and would enter several items to be judged. She was often times a best of show winner and has countless blue ribbons for her items.
Mary Ann attended Missoula County High School and was one of the first classes to graduate from what is today known as Sentinel High.
Mary Ann was a strong supporter of the Lion's club and traveled to various places supporting Roy's involvement.
Mary Ann is survived by her Husband Roy, Sons Tony (Lauren), Tim (Julie) her grandchildren, Josh (Amanda), Ashley, Mellissa (Michael), Jeremy, Morgan (Ethan), Mitch, Austin and Makayla and great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Cohen.
A celebration of Mary Ann will be held at Westside Lanes on Wednesday, Sept. 24th , 4:00 – 6:00. Please join us to share some stories, eat a hot dog, and celebrate the person she was – She would like that.
