MISSOULA - Mary E. Foshag, 82, of Missoula, passed away of natural causes at her home Friday, December. 26, 2008, after celebrating Christmas with her family.
She was born December. 3, 1926, in Butte to Al and Minnie Carey. She was the third of four children and the only girl. She was educated in the Butte schools and became a registered nurse upon the completion of college in Bozeman.
In 1951, Mary married William “Bill” L. Foshag and had four sons. The couple spent their first few years in Lewistown and in 1956 moved to Great Falls. Mary worked for numerous doctors and hospitals while in Great Falls. In 1967, the family moved to Missoula where Mary worked at St. Patrick’s Hospital until she retired in 1988.
Mary underwent numerous hip surgeries through the years to battle her congenital hips but refused to surrender her ability to help people and remained a nurse. She continued that battle in retirement to remain in her home and be independent.
Mary was a caring nurse, loving mother and wonderful grandmother who will be sincerely missed.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and husband.
She is survived by her four sons, Bill (Gail), Bernie (Karen), Bob and Burt (Laurie) all of Missoula; her four grandchildren, Lynnae, Travis, Kelcie and Brittani; and her sister in-law Lena Boecker of Great Falls.
Visitation will commence at 9 a.m. Wednesday, December. 31, at Garden City Funeral Home with Services to follow at 10 a.m. A reception at the funeral home will follow the burial at St. Mary’s cemetery.
