Mary Decker, 77, passed away at St. Patrick Hospital on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, from a cerebral hemorrhage. She was preceded in death by her parents, Geraldine and William DeSmith; and her sister, Kathy DeSmith.
Mary was born in Sodus, New York, to Geraldine and William DeSmith and moved to Colorado as a child.
She was educated in Colorado and later moved with her husband and sons to western Montana.
She is survived by her husband, Darryl; and sons, James (Sarah), Jeffery (Lisa) Decker Scotty Barbour; and daughter-in-law, Tina Gyles. Also surviving are her seven beloved grandchildren, Abbi, Dustin, Josh, Lindsey, Kelsey, Sam and Vlad; as well as two great-grandchildren, Jace Decker and Haliee Graham.
Mary will be missed by her siblings, Julie (Jackie) DeSmith of Carson, Washington, Fred (Elaine) DeSmith of Mandeville, Louisiana, and Gerry Gentry of Kerrville, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church at a later date. Mary donated her body for research to Washington State University for Marfan Syndrome research. "Life is all about making a difference." In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Marfan Foundation, marfan.org/get-involved/give.
