Mary Frances Winchel Crawford

Mary Frances Winchel Crawford, 94, of Missoula, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, at Hillside Manor. Mary was born Nov. 16, 1919, in Glendive to Theresa (Flink) and George Winchel. Mary was the third born of seven children. She was married to Robert H. Crawford on Nov. 7, 1942, and they had six children. Mary resided with her family in Glendive until 1963 when they moved to Missoula.

Mary worked at the Missoula Mercantile (The Bon) for 17 years and then the Campus Inn Motel for 14 years. She finished her work career when she retired from the Missoula Aging Services at the age of 91.

Mary was preceded in death by her son, Richard (Dick) Crawford; and daughters, Darlene (Dar) Johnson, Penny L. Reich and husband Bob Crawford. Mary is survived by three children, sons Thomas (wife Sally) Crawford of Billings and Ken Crawford of Missoula, and daughter Bobbie (husband Wes) Walton of Glendo, Wyo., and son-in-law Rich Reich; daughter-in-law, Candy Crawford; and sister-in-law, Shirley Winchel. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends made during her long life of loving and giving of herself.
