Mary Sherman "Shermy" Bremer, 70, of Missoula, passed away July 30, 2013, at Hunters Glen from cancer.
She was born Jan. 1, 1943, in Toledo, Ohio. As the daughter of an Army officer, Shermy moved around a lot as a child, benefiting from the opportunity to learn about different regions of the country.
She met her husband, John, on a blind date in 1965 and they enjoyed many happy years together after being married July 15, 1967. After John's retirement in 2005, the couple moved from Michigan to Missoula to be near family.
Shermy was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. An amazing cook, Shermy hosted many memorable dinner parties for friends and family. In addition to cooking, Shermy enjoyed gardening and a wide variety of crafts.
Shermy loved taking annual trips to national parks, particularly Glacier and Yellowstone. She was also an avid supporter of the arts as well as live music. Her enthusiasm for life and her optimistic attitude were contagious to all those around her. She kept her spirits high despite her illness and continued to enjoy a well-developed sense of humor and life's simple pleasures.
She is survived by her husband, John; son, Fred; daughter-in-law, Christina; and grandson, Toliver. She will be missed by all.
The family is planning a private service and asks that donations in Shermy's memory be made to the Glacier Park Fund in lieu of flowers.
