Obituary for Mary A Anderson

Mary Agnes Anderson, 93, of Missoula passed on to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and beloved husband George on Saturday, March 11, 2016 of natural causes.
She was born January 2, 1924 in Butte, Montana to Peter and Agnes Wertin. She was raised and educated in Butte. On June 18, 1941 she married the love of her life George N. Anderson at St. Joseph Church in Butte. Together they spent 70 wonderful years of marriage until the loss of her beloved husband August 11, 2011. Together they had 9 sons, two dying at birth. After the birth of her oldest son, George was called into service in WW II where he served as a radar man. Mary moved to San Francisco to live with her mom until George was discharged. They then returned to Butte. Mary worked at J.C. Penney's for three years. George's job moved them to Missoula in 1964. Mary stayed at home until her youngest son was in school at which time she went to work as a cook at Sentinel High School for 12 years.
Their summers were spent at Elkhorn Guest Ranch at Rock Creek. After George retired they traveled a year and then settled in at Elkhorn where they lived for 7 years. Mary always said that it was her most favorite place in the world and many very happy times were spent there with all of her family. Mary loved flowers, birds, and crocheting afghans for her family and special Christmas crafts until age got the best of her hands. Her great joy was following her grandchildren in their sports at Loyola, Big Sky, Sentinel, and Drummond High Schools. They also followed the Lady Griz and were lucky enough to see a grandson and granddaughter on Griz rosters.
