Marveen C. Peters

Marveen Catherine Peters, 86, of Missoula, Montana, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Village Health and Rehab in Missoula following a period of declining health.

Marveen was born March 27, 1936, in Red Lodge, Montana, the second child to parents James and Viola Vincent.

On August 15, 1953, she married John E. Peters and had three daughters. She and John co-owned and operated newspapers and aviation related businesses in North Dakota, Montana, and Idaho.

Marveen liked to keep busy. She belonged to the Rebekah Lodges in Mineral County and Spokane Valley, volunteered at various libraries, served on the Kulm Park Board and helped residents at assisted living centers where she resided. She was a lifelong learner, going back to school to finish her education well into her 70 and enjoyed all kinds of gardening and had the ability to make even finicky African Violets and Cacti bloom.

Marveen was a woman of great faith, who enjoyed bible studies and followed Christ’s example in her life. She had a very big, kind and compassionate heart. Recently Marveen was voted to be the “Best Big Hugger” at her living facility and those hugs will be missed by the staff and residents who received them, along with all the candy bars she shared with those who were in need of a special treat. Marveen loved being around people, and often found that love multiplied in return. She was dedicated to her family and took great pride in those relationships.

Marveen was preceded in death by her husband John; daughter Bonnie Cook; her siblings: Mary Loue, Vernajean and Harvey; son-in-law Arley and grandson-in-law, Jerry.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Kathy (Don) Edwards and Peggy Ellingson; Grandchildren: Camber, Rhiannon (Corey), William (Malonie), Erika (Caroline) and Tripp; Great-Grandchildren: Liz and Edward; and her great-great grandchildren, Braydon, Rylee and Olivia; as well as many extended family and friends scattered around the country.

At Marveen’s request, cremation will take place and a Celebration of her life will be held one year and one day from her death in Portland, OR.

Her daughters would like to thank everyone who knew and loved Mom and made her life special. Memorials may be sent to: Peggy Ellingson, 1181 NE Yorktown Dr. Waukee, IA 50263 or to a charity of choice.
