Obituary for Martha Lou Yale

Martha Lou Yale passed away at home with her husband by her side
on April 10, 2014. She had suffered from Parkinson's disease for a number
of years.
She was born in Walla Walla, Washington on November 12, 1936,
and was the daughter of Mae and Floyd Ward. Her parents and sister
Margaret preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Keith Yale,
of Missoula, sister, Muriel Beukelman, of Nampa, Idaho and several
nephews and nieces.
She attended schools in Walla Walla, and after graduation from
Whitman College she attended the University of Montana and received her
Master's degree in Music in 1964. About that time she met her future
husband, Keith, while mountain climbing. They were married in December
1969.
Music was the love of her of her life. She taught private piano lessons
and was a ballet pianist at the University of Montana. She also played for
various private ballet schools. At home, she enjoyed cooking, raising
orchids, and at one time had more than a hundred various orchids. Her love
of cats was unbounded and her last birthday present was a young kitten. At
various times throughout her life she avidly pursued many different outdoor
activities which included rock climbing, mountain climbing, Alpine and
Nordic skiing, mountain biking, race walking, sea kayaking and sailing.
She shared many of these activities with her husband and friends. Martha
also was a volunteer at St. Patrick's Hospital, and a member of Beta
International for a number of years.
The care and concern provided by her doctors, Partners Hospice and
friends is deeply appreciated. A memorial service will be held at a later
date. The family suggests that memorials be given to a charity of your
choice. Sunset Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
