Marsha K. Worthington
Marsha K. Worthington, 69, passed away on Sunday, June 3rd at home surround by her husband and two daughters. Marsha was born on September 12, 1948 in Kalispell to Margaret and William “Bill” Keith. She grew up in Kalispell, spending summers at the family cabin at Flathead Lake and graduating from Flathead High School in 1966.
She attended Eastern Montana College where she met Bob Worthington on a blind date (she was supposed to be set up with his friend). They were married on September 9, 1967 in Kalispell. They moved to Missoula, Billings, Havre, Granby, CO, and Minneapolis before settling in Great Falls. During this time they were blessed with two daughters. While raising their daughters, Marsha was very active in the Great Falls community. Marsha was on the Great Falls Ski Patrol, was a Girl Scout leader, involved in Junior League, was Secretary for Great Falls Symphony, and was heavily involved with Riverside Little League.
In 1987 the family moved to Helena where Marsha worked at Carrol College as Manager of Student Accounts, a position she held for 17 years before retiring in 2009. This was a challenging position but she loved every student that entered campus. She could recall students names years later and always spoke fondly of the students she worked with. In 2010 she and Bob moved to Missoula to be closer to their children.
Marsha loved to go camping, hiking, biking and kayaking. Following Bob on what she, not always fondly, called “Bob’s Biking Adventures”, she experienced wonderful scenery throughout the Western United States on their many trips. She also loved to shop, and her stamina rivaled that of a marathoner.
Marsha was the rock of the family, and made the house a home. She was a wonderful, loving wife and mother, supporting Bob through his careers and his role as Great Falls mayor, her daughters through school and their many endeavors, and her grandkids through their activities. She was also a lover of animals -there was not a squirrel, deer, dog, cat, or bird that Marsha did not love, and attempt to feed.
Marsha is survived by her husband, Bob; daughter Glendie (John) Loranger of Spokane and their sons Reed and Adam; daughter Keithi (Jim) Martin of Missoula and their son Robert; sisters Billie Jean McGivern (Scottsdale, AZ); Mowry Yearout (Great Falls) and various extended family and friends. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the dedicated and loving staff of the Partners in Homecare Hospice team. Their wonderful support eased Marsha’s difficult 8-month battle with cancer.
A celebration of Marsha’s life will occur Friday June 15 at 3:00 pm at Garden City Funeral Home in Missoula, Montana. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marsha’s name to Life Services of Spokane, AniMeals of Missoula, and the Western Montana Humane Society.
